GREAT 2020 Project (Green Engine for Air Traffic 2020)

GREAT 2020 is a Piedmontese project started in 2013, co-funded by Piedmont Region and EU funds, which promotes the development of sustainable technologies aiming to the ACARE goals for the reduction of CO2, NOx e noise (dB) of aviation public transport.
MEPIT has been involved in the innovative combustion systems project, focusing its attention on the analysis of a DEOILER system, which separates oil droplets from an air/oil mixture in a jet engine.

The project covered a period of two years, from June 2013 to June 2015, and consisted of two stages:
Stage 1 – Design & analysis, production, assembly, testing, inspection and optimization of DEOILER system components
Stage 2 – Optimization & improvement and structural analysis of critical components in order to develop and produce further configurations.
